Over 250 people reported to have suffered gastro-intestinal illness following a conference in February. At least 24 attendees were hospitalised. However a second outbreak of food poisoning has been linked to Brisbane's Convention and Exhibition Centre (BCEC) earlier in the month. The function centre has suspended supplies of eggs and poultry products as a precautionary measure in light of these major Salmonella food poisoning outbreaks. A Brisbane City Council spokeswoman said the BCEC had been inspected three times since the first outbreak in March.
